Events
of the last quarter have vividly highlighted the vulnerability of an enterprise
to an ever-broadening array of threats. While the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
in concert with our Nuclear Utilities has appropriately focused first
on securing physical plant security and public safety, WCG believes that
far broader business continuity implications that should also be addressed.
In summary:
- Enterprises now face a significantly altered threat profile that demands
decisive action and ongoing attention by executive management.
- Each business represents a unique mix of markets, products and services,
supply chains, financial relationships, and even physical facilities
and infrastructure - all of which complicate the challenge of properly
securing the continuity of the enterprise.
- Experience shows that existing Risk Management Plans, Programs, and
Procedures at the typical enterprise (Disaster Recovery, Emergency Planning,
Succession Planning, etc.) are inadequate to appropriately secure business
continuity of the enterprise in the face of this new reality.
- Experience also shows that the coverage gaps are both significant
and material to ongoing business continuity, and therefore constitute
a clear threat to the enterprise as well as to executive management
and the Board of Directors.
For these reasons, WCG believes that companies
should focus immediate priority on assessing and securing overall business
continuity, and that these efforts can be greatly accelerated through the
participation and assistance of an appropriately experienced and trusted
consulting partner. WCG's seasoned teams afford clients substantial experience
and perspective that is highly relevant to this pressing challenge. WCG
has studied this issue, tailored an approach to address it, and is ready
now to assist interested firms in securing business continuity. WCG also
brings special qualifications, unique experience, and impeccable references
to the Nuclear IOU family.
