Chapter Officers - Please give this e-mail the widest possible distribution
among your members and other alumni in your area.

Our Alumni House email list is not up to date and this is
an appeal to each of you to get online and update your information. This
is very important for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is
routine communications. On the other end, emergency contact needs arise
from time to time.
Many people have changed their email addresses, mailing addresses, rank,
telephone number, etc., without notifying the Alumni Staff. For example,
every chapter is listed with contact information but much of the contact
information (email address, etc.) is missing or out of date. One Chapter
Secretary's name is listed but his phone and email are not, even though
he contacts alumni regularly by email. If someone new in the area wanted
to join by contacting him, they couldn't. Shipmate never seems to have
all correct and up to date Chapter information, and this is largely because
we have not communicated changes to Alumni House.
Every alumnus in the Alumni Association's database is listed with their
rank, address, phone, email address, etc. This information is readily
available to all of us simply by going to our web site "Alumni Only"
section, which is dynamically updated from the database. The 1999 Register
does not have email addresses and has some errors. It would be great if
the information on individuals in our web site were correct and up-to-date!!
It would help prospective new chapter members and everyone else if the
information on each chapter were correct and up-to-date. This can only
happen if each of us provides the Staff the correct information.
I request each of you to go to our web site and update your personal information.
It's easy. Here's how you do it. First, go to the web site by clicking
on:
http://www.usna.com/
Then go to "Alumni Only". Log in. You will need a user name
and password. Once you have established this, the site will remember your
password if you ask it to. Go to "Update your profile". Then
fill in all the blanks. Right now, you cannot update your rank, although
rank is in the database. However, sometime in January, this capability
will be added to the "Update Profile" section.
If you are a Chapter officer, send Mardy Laabs mardy.laabs@usna.com
an email and ask her to update your information in the Chapter section
after you have updated your profile.
When you finish, look around on our web site. It has all kinds of interesting
and useful information.
