George Watt ' 73, President and CEO of the Alumni Association,
just issued the following announcement:
"I am very pleased to pass on to you that two of our Alumni Association
members in the Class of 1976 are two of the five Colonels who have been
nominated by the President for Brigadier General: Colonel John R. Allen,
USMC, Commandant of Midshipmen and Colonel Joseph V. Medina, USMC, Commanding
Officer, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. I know
you will join me in wishing John and Joe the heartiest congratulations
on this significant milestone in their very illustrious careers along
with our very best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors.

I join George in congratulating these two fine men and fellow alumni,
and in wishing them God's blessings in their new level of responsibilities.
Their accomplishment is particularly noteworthy considering that only
5 were promoted from a field of 241 candidates.
