Subj: Trustee Election Results Refer to: Central Region Letter 05-06; April 19,
2006 **** Dear Central Region Alumni:
As I have pointed out in my other Newsletters my duty to communicate with you is made clear by the Alumni Association Bylaws/Operating Manual: “…being a Trustee of the Association involves serious responsibility...Of utmost importance is the responsibility to communicate effectively in explaining to our individual constituencies about issues, initiatives and activities of the Association.”
RESULTS OF TRUSTEE ELECTION
I received the following email today from the BOT Secretary at Alumni House. I do not know what “plurality” means in the context of his message for the Chairman position, but I will report back to you after the May 5th BOT meeting with the actual vote counts for the candidates, including the write-in candidate. I thank all of you in the Central Region who have exercised your right to vote in this election. Here is the message I received:
“This email is being sent to the Board of Trustees. A similar note will be sent to the class and chapter presidents.
The Board of Tellers has reported the following based on a plurality of the votes cast:
For Chair: Carlisle A. H. Trost ‘53 For Mid-Atlantic Region: Michael J. Collins ‘84 For Western Region: Stephen M. Andres ‘67
In accordance with the Operating Manual (IV D) the results, including write-in votes, will be announced at the next Board meeting.
To those of you who took the time to vote, whether for a regional trustee, the chairman, or both, thank you for participating in the governance model of your Alumni Association.
Lawrence Heyworth III '70 Secretary U. S. Naval Academy Alumni Association”
